RESUMO: O presente trabalho tem por objetivo chamar atenção de estudiosos, pastores, alunos e membros de igreja para a importância da análise da divindade de Jesus Cristo como Deus igual ao Pai, tanto no livro de João como na Cristologia em todo o Novo Testamento. Esta análise é fruto de uma crescente necessidade de estudos analíticos acerca da subordinação funcional de Cristo e sua importância no contexto da vida cristã. As definições apresentadas estão baseadas nos estudos da história da igreja cristã primitiva, no pensamento dos pais da igreja e suas pressuposições a cerca da Divindade de Cristo.

An Analysis of John 17:3 from the Historical and Biblical Perspectives of Jesus as God.

Abstract: The present study has as a goal to call the attention of researchers, pastors, students and members of the Church to the importance of the analysis of the Divinity of Jesus Christ as God in equal standing with the Father, both in the Gospel of John as well as in the Christology of the entire New Testament. The present analysis is a result of the growing need of analytical studies concerning the functional subordination of Christ and its relevance for Christian life. The definitions, here presented, are based on historical studies of the Early Church, of the thought of Church Fathers and their presuppositions concerning the Divinity of Christ.
